Company History and Background

  • 1948 - Willis D. McCammish (1892-1958) and son Doug moved to Winchester to make residential countertops and cabinets. Willis was excited by a new material called Formica.
  • 1958 to 1964 - Custom kitchen & bathroom business grew and moved several times to larger facilities.
  • 1964 - First production countertop contract (IBM Office Products). Achieved near metal working tolerances with aluminum jigs with hardened steel bushings at hole locations.
  • 1969 - 40,000 ft manufacturing plant plus automated panel processing equipment. Contracts with office furniture manufacturers (Kimball, Drexel, Armstrong, GF Bus Equip).
  • 1973 - Doug′s son Mark, now president, joined the business with a UK degree in Civil Engineering and 2 years outside experience. Began formalizing production schedules and inventory control.
  • 1984 - Manufacturing moved to 150,000′ Winn Ave facility and first of several CNC machines. Customers include major US manufacturers of office, computer, and contract furniture.    Daughter MaryDavis, CPA, joined business as controller.
  • 1988 - Caseworks of Kentucky founded with Laurie and Rita Moore and large architectural project focus. Major projects completed include two large laboratories for Duke University and W.T. Young Library at UK. In 1996, Mark′s son Duncan began as apprentice to Laurie Moore, making the fourth generation active in the business.
  • 1993 - Contract furniture business initiated with healthcare casegoods to complement Jackson of Danville seating as well as finished products for Hill-Rom and Invacare and several thousand rooms of mid to upper end hotel/motel furniture for Marriott and other brands.
  • 1997 - Columbia, Kentucky plant established and in 2002, with a new CNC panel saw and machining center, all large production orders moved to Columbia. Winchester plant is now devoted to installation and fabrication of specialty items such as nurse′s stations, receptions, and other custom millwork.
  • Today - Employ more than 300 years of woodworking and cabinetry experience, including a number of employees who have been with the company for over 25 years.
